When Rain Turns Their Shelter Unsafe
Every heavy rain creates a serious problem for the rescued animals living at Alisha Jeev Ashray. Water enters the shelter, the ground becomes wet and muddy, and many animals are left without a clean and dry place to rest.
This is especially dangerous for injured, weak, disabled and paralysed animals. Some cannot move away from the water on their own. Wet floors damage their bedding, make wound care difficult and can increase the risk of infections and skin problems.
These animals have already faced road accidents, hunger, illness and abandonment. After being rescued, they should not have to struggle for safety again inside the shelter.
The current space needs raised flooring, stronger roofing and proper drainage. Without these improvements, every heavy rain puts their health and recovery at risk.
A Home Built From Compassion
Alisha Jeev Ashray is an animal rescue and care initiative led by Alisha Singh in Shikohabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Alisha began by helping injured, sick and abandoned animals she found on the streets. What started with small rescue efforts slowly became a safe place for animals who had nowhere else to go.
Today, the shelter cares for rescued dogs, puppies, cows and other animals. Many arrive with serious injuries, infections, weakness or disabilities.
Some recover and can return to a safe place. Others need long-term care because they cannot survive alone on the streets.
For these animals, Alisha Jeev Ashray is not just a shelter. It is their only place of safety, care and another chance at life.
Rescue, Treatment and Daily Care
Alisha and her team respond to rescue calls and bring injured and abandoned animals to safety.
At the shelter, animals receive food, medicines, wound care, veterinary treatment and daily support. Weak animals are given proper nutrition, while injured animals need regular dressing, cleaning and medical attention.
Disabled and paralysed animals require even more care. They must be cleaned, moved and supported every day.
The team provides a secure place where rescued animals can rest and recover without facing traffic, hunger or further injury.
Rescue is only the first step. Recovery needs a clean, dry and safe shelter where treatment can continue in every season.
