Devastating flash floods have destroyed homes, roads and bridges across northern Nepal. Thousands of families urgently need food, safe drinking water, temporary shelter and medical support.

A Disaster That Changed Everything Within Minutes

On 26 August 2026, a powerful flash flood carrying water, mud, rocks and debris struck communities across northern Nepal.

Homes, markets, roads, bridges and other important infrastructure were badly damaged or completely washed away. Many families had only a few minutes to leave everything behind and move towards safer places.

Major roads and bridges have been destroyed, making some of the worst-affected communities difficult to reach. The full scale of the disaster is still becoming clear.

For the families who survived, the emergency is far from over.

Thousands of Families Have Been Affected

More than 90,000 people are reported to have been affected or displaced. Hundreds of lives have been lost and thousands of people are still missing.

Many survivors have lost their homes, livelihoods, clothes, food supplies and important belongings. Families are now struggling without clean water, dry shelter, blankets and basic medical care.

Reported figures may change as rescue teams reach remote communities.
